BYREDo-La Tulipe
La Tulipe is built around the idea of the tulip - a flower reminiscent of morning moist gardens and by being one of the season’s first flowers to open its bud; the tulip has become a symbol for the rebirth of spring.
“I have always loved tulips and decided to create a fragrance that spoke of the whole idea of the flower. To do this I wanted to capture its shy characteristic - and combine that with the expressive physicality it bears. For me, the tulip is very intriguing as it won’t surrender its smell through distillation. But by combining natural ingredients taken from different parts of the tulip as well as from other flowers it was possible to give life to this fragrance we set out to create.” – Ben Gorham
La Tulipe opens with Rhubarb, Cyclamen and Freesia. The heart consists of Tulip and reveals a base of Blonde Woods and Vetiver.

Finally, an update !
I was beginning to worry why no word for so long. This one sounds pretty, can’t wait to try it, I like the Byredo line. I am now the proud owner of Gypsy Water !
( which I got from Madison of course
I know, I know, I have to be better at posting on the news. Sometimes, like now, I wish I could write as much as I feel like, without getting in trouble.
So, La Tulipe… is so great and so unique. I rarely get ecstatic about florals, but when I do, I really do. Like now. It’s that specific smell you get when you walk into a flower shop, you know? You get a whiff of all the flowers in there, mixed in with the green of the freshly cut stems, and some wet earth from the flower pots.
The tulip barely smells, but it does smell, and it is that smell that is present throughout the fragrance evolution on the skin, and it manages to be suave, flowery, not overpowering, springy, and not at all superficial.
It finishes very similar with Gypsy Water and Bal d’Afrique (which, btw, blew everyone over… we’re out of stock on it again and our testers are both empty).
This is definitely my favorite new spring scent. If you get to try it, do share.
Next week we’re getting Nimfeo Mio and Rose Oud, but I’ll make sure to post, rather than comment.
But I love your comments, why just post and not comment?
Thank you for the details on La Tulipe, it sounds really pretty! I have already tried Kilian Rose Oud and it’s really good ! I am not really a fan of rose perfumes, but I can appreciate them and this one is well done
Recently I tried Baudelair from Byredo and we just clicked…springtime for me it’s esential and with some assistance I discovered my new side, the fresh and vibrant male ego
…anyway.
I looked over on your site to see prices and remember the ingerdient but I’m not sure if u have posted this parfume too. I hope I’m not wrong remembering the new try: Baudelaire from Byredo. Kindly, Makkai
Oh and speaking of Kilian, I finally got a bottle of Back To Black too, not long ago. Not to brag, but I really wanted it. I love his line
@Makkai: yes, we have the fragrance, but we recently reduced all prices and we’re still working on updating them and of course, adding all the new products we introduced in the last 3 months.
In any case, the composition: notes of juniper berry, black pepper, caraway, incense, hyacinth, leather, papyrus, patchouli and black amber.
@Gia: glad you like it and was able to get it. We ran out in December, and Kilian was out of it, too. We had a waiting list and we just got it in now. S0 enjoy it.
PS-did you notice we reduced the prices?
Thank you !
I was probably one of the people who got one of the very last bottles, back in December, before you ran out of it
Yes, I did notice the reduced price when I got Gypsy Water, great news !
