Madison officially launches BYREDO
Last night was magical!
After weeks of preparations for our biggest event so far, it all came together for what was three hours of continuous fun, exuberance, class, perfumed air and bodies, and lots of fashion and beauty!
Ben Gorham, the heart and soul of Byredo, and Madison welcomed over 200 guests, VIP’s and journalists.
Balthazar was the perfect location to transform into a picnic, thanks to the limitless creativity of Yogesh (window dresser for Harvey Nichols and Madison, of course, a former collaborator of none other than Philippe Starck, as well) and the beautiful pieces from Simona store (which you can find at Baneasa Shopping City). Our main sponsor, Sobranie (JTI), had a great idea of bringing an origamist who offered white roses and little black dragons which we perfumed with Rose Noir, and Pommery champagne was sparkling in our glasses all through the night. The soundtrack was one of the cherries on top: Bogman, aka Gypsy Bogdan (who of course wears Gypsy Water), bringing us top sounds with seasoning from New York!
Ben had me stressed out for almost two hours prior to our speech, whispering to me how he hates to speak in front of people, how he’s so tired, how he’ll bribe me with a big discount on the next order if I get him out of speaking, all this being his way of getting a kick out of seeing me fret! Of course he spoke and spoke and spoke, after all, and he admitted he was teasing me, but man… was I nervous… He spoke about his background, how special and important it is that people like us (Madison and its clients) make it possible for independent houses to leave a mark in the world of fragrance, he mentioned Green and Gypsy Water and their creative processes, and then invited everyone to come up and say hello. As I was passing by him later on, I heard him converse about his zodiac sign, too. :) (he’s a Cancer, by the way)
Ben also noticed how involved everyone was in smelling the fragrances and spraying them on; people had dilemmas on what they should pick and were coming up to Ben for rescue…and he said that’s such a refreshing surprise from the US (where we all know they eat the food and sip the drinks, paying least attention to the main reason for having such a gathering).
I was so happy to see all the special people who make Madison even more special with their regular visits, but we also had the not so regulars who make rare appearances in public altogether. Most of all, clients are starting to be more into these events, which is what makes me the happiest. That’s why we make them better and better.
