Venchi and The Mews
I miss the times when I was active in writing on Psst!; it was there where I would rave about all the things I liked in Bucharest and the rest of the country… So for everyone who’s interested in knowing what’s noteworthy nowadays, I have two new places that I’m excited about: Venchi Chocogelatteria and The Mews.
Venchi, the famous Italian chocolate maker from over a century ago, has entered Romania, and in their beautiful wood accented boutique you can find the most delicious chocolate delicacies: chocaviar (little dark chocolate beads), chocolate cigars, chocolate bars, organic coffee, individually wrapped chocolate candy, and, of course, gelatto (God, how long did we wait for amazing icecream to be available?!?!). The boutique is on Calea Victoriei 214 and is truly wait the haunt for a parking spot.
And the second piece of good news is another boutique opening, The Mews. This baby is very special to me for a number of reasons. First of all, because I knew of it since its inception, and it’s great to see it finally come to life. Secondly, because it’s very similar to my story, in the sense that someone with Romanian roots is leaving a great life behind and giving it a shot here using her talent and Western education; and all that because her gut feeling was telling her to do it, despite some other people’s reluctancy. And thirdly, because the clothing in The Mews is exactly what I used to buy when I was in New York and wanted to have a style that was different and hard to trace: American Retro, ba&sh, Les Chemins Blancs, By Malene Birger, and a few selected others.
Julie, my friend and the boutique owner, has put a lot of soul and personal touch into The Mews, and when you go there, you should ask about the mannequins, the chairs, the heavy pieces that the jeans hang on… and if you happen to lose track of time and place and feel like you’re somewhere in The Marais, don’t think it’s a coincidence: you were meant to, all along

What are the brands @ The Mews?
do they sell items for men also? and….when will the site be updated with the new brands from Madison?

@marius: we’re working on the updates as we speak… and just as we speak, also, we’re getting more and more newness. we’ll soon be up to date until Agraria, and we’ll add Nez a Nez, Czeck and Speak and By Kilian after.
wow Czeck and Speak that’s a classic. you told me something about a special edition for Costume National if I remember correctly, is this still going to happen?
