Madison vintage expo
Last night I was up until 1am in the morning, working side by side with Florin, my window-dresser-wonder-maker-techie. The vintage expo, which Octavian threw at me as an innocent thought which later turned out intoan obsession (thanks!!!), has officially taken two months to prepare. If every window we make will follow the same pattern, I might need to hire another person!
But it’s been great: spending time with Octavian and Radu digging through and hassling in the flea market to get good prices, reading about the objects and understanding their history further, brainstorming about the way we can best showcase them, the press’ interest on covering the endeavor, and… yet to come and best of it, the client’s reaction to the exhibit. I hope they will appreciate it and I hope to be keeping up the standard we set for ourselves.

That sounds really cool, congratulations. And by the way, Caron would make a great addition to your current portfolio…
Happy to report I got AG Neroli - and it turns out to be everything I hoped for, a sparkling white floral if there ever was one. Too bad the staying power is poor, but that is common for all AGs, I hear.
so someone is ignoring my suggestions, i see.
yes, it’s true: all AG scents (except Songes, Grand Amour, Ce Soir au Jamais) have an evanescent quality to them. Emotions are fleeting, so are some scents…
Sorry, I’ll do better next time :). I should try Songes, don’t know it and sounds great from the description.
By the way, here’s a thought: why not sending a periodical newsletter focused on a certain scent - not necesarily a new arrival, but random fragrances from your lineup. There are a LOT of options there and no client can notice them all, even after ten visits to the store. But pointing them out might give people ideas. I’m not talking essay-style pieces, but descriptions of the notes and general feeling of the scent. I know there is the website for that kind of info, but many scents are described pretty vaguely there, and I don’t know what to make of certain descriptions such as “the essence of a woman” etc. Plus, I, for example, am quite familiar with niche fragrances, but had no idea Creed made a neroli perfume, so… Just a thought.
PS. Loved your vintage pieces, but I was too scared to touch them! Fabulous idea & execution.
*Songes is about everything you’d smell on vacation, especially on exotic islands: frangipane flowers, vanilla, creamy sweetness. And, surprise surprise, white flowers. I’m curious if you’d like it. You can’t be iffy about it, you either like it a lot or you find it obscenely sweet and heavy (but then again, if you like Datura Noir…).
*Yes, the idea of grouping the fragrances on families/inspiration/themes came up before.
Octavian is coming to Madison next weekend and we’re doing a workshop on precisely this.
*thank you on the expo!
Yes, well, I was not talking only of grouping them etc, but on highlighting them randomly, one at a time, in a newsletter to the clients. There is a huge chance of thus introducing stuff that went unnoticed before.
When work next allows me, I’ll drop by to try Songes. I’ve already discovered a new favourite though a sample from you - Jasmin Imperatrice Eugenie. I might get this next. This sampling policy really works…
Good luck with the workshop!
