Early fall last year I traveled on business to London.  Part of the experience were some fragrance presentations made by the creators themselves.

La Tulipe is built around the idea of the tulip - a flower reminiscent of morning moist gardens and by being one of the season’s first flowers to open its bud; the tulip has become a symbol for the rebirth of spring.

“I have always loved tulips and decided to create a fragrance that spoke of the whole idea of the flower.  To do this I wanted to capture its shy characteristic - and combine that with the expressive physicality it bears.  For me, the tulip is very intriguing as it won’t surrender its smell through distillation.  But by combining natural ingredients taken from different parts of the tulip as well as from other flowers it was possible to give life to this fragrance we set out to create.” – Ben Gorham

La Tulipe opens with Rhubarb, Cyclamen and Freesia.  The heart consists of Tulip and reveals a base of Blonde Woods and Vetiver.

Once upon a time there was this beautiful house in the heart of Bucharest, owned by two eccentric art collectors. For one night and one night only, the doors of the house were opened to receive the Madison guests, and guide them through an olfactive labyrinth of opulent flavors, rich colors, lavish tastes, and dark and mysterious images. Far into the night, from above and from the enclave of dark angels, the dark knight himself showed up to speak of Back to Black - aphrodisiac.

PS-correction: I rushed to write this post without consulting the “Les Senteurs” website.  What a mistake!  The real story is actually completely different than what the excerpt on Basenotes said.  What “Les Senteurs” is doing is beautiful.  While celebrating 25 years of family business and hundreds of fragrant moments, they are organizing a series of very special meetings between the perfumers and the creators of niche lines, and their public.
